Changes to Fees
May 21, 2008
The following fees will increase effective Wednesday, May 21st:
- Oversized bags - changing from $100 to $150
- Domestic Ticket Change Fee - From $100 to $150
- International Ticket Change Fee - from $100 - $200 to $150 - $250
- Reservations Service Fee - from $15 to $20
- AAdvantage Award Ticket Fee - from $15 to $20
- External Reservation Handling fee - from $15 to $20
- Airport Service Fee - from $20 to $30
- Travel Center Service Fee - from $20 to $30
- Pet In Cabin Fee - from $80 to $100
- Checked Pet Fee - from $100 to $150
- Unaccompanied Minor Fee - from $75 to $100
Revision To Collection Of Change Fees
Effective for tickets issued on or after May 21, 2008, change fees will be collected based upon the fare component that is being changed. This applies whether the fare is a one way fare or half of a roundtrip fare. This is for travel wholly in the U.S. and/or transborder Canada. Example:
DFW - SEA GA14DNR - $150.00 change fee
SEA - LAX V14C50N - $ 50.00 change fee
LAX - DFW QA14DNR - $150.00 change fee
The customer only wants to make a change to the SEA-LAX flight. In this case, the customer would only pay a USD $50.00 change fee. If they wanted to make a change to both the SEA-LAX flight and the LAX-DFW flight, then they would pay a USD $150.00 change fee because that is more restrictive.
This procedure also applies to OA flight changes. If the SEA-LAX flight was on AS and that was the only flight being changed, then the change fee for the AS fare component would be collected.
Non-Refundable to Refundable Transactions
May 21, 2008
Effective May 21, fare rules have been changed to allow a non-refundable fare ticket to be applied to the purchase of a refundable fare ticket. Once the value of a non-refundable fare ticket has been applied to the purchase of a refundable fare ticket, only the original non-refundable amount remains non-refundable and the original non-refundable amount must be shown in the endorsement box. This applies to both wholly unused and/or partially used non-refundable fares. If there is a residual between the original non-refundable fare and the new ticket, the ASC fee may be taken from the residual and an MCO issued for the remainder. This policy applies for tickets issued on/after May 21, 2008.
